Gallant,
Load schooner
Sailing cargo ship
Let’s sail thanks to the wind…

Since November 2017, the Blue Schooner Company has been fitting out the schooner Gallant, built in Vlaardingen (Netherlands) at the Figee brothers’ yard and launched in 1916 as Jannetje Margaretha. This boat, originally a haring logger, has had several careers.
Sold to a Danish shipowner in 1926, a propulsion engine was installed and the boat began a career as a coaster under the name Gertrud.
In 1987, the “Zeilschip De Gallant” foundation bought the ship and, as part of a training project for young people in Amsterdam, completely restored it.
From 1993 onwards, Gallant sailed the North Sea, Baltic Sea and English Channel, embarking passengers and also serving as a sailing school.
Today, Gallant offers a sail shipping service, while offering people wishing to take part in an authentic human adventure the chance to come aboard.

Green shipping
Our shipping is a green shipping: except for port maneuvers, we don’t use fossil fuels! Onboard electricity is supplied by solar panels. This model responds to the challenges of the ecological transition: we transport, without emissions, products that cannot be grown or manufactured in our delivery territories. By serving ports of all sizes, we get as close as possible to producers and consumers. Our stopovers are an opportunity to liven up local areas and bring local projects to life.
